Augmentation for mental health: Tips that will help you to overcome mental adversity!

Augmentation helps us to realize that our friends, family, and colleagues cannot place us in a greater situation. We must do that ourselves! ~LWB Butterfly

I have had moments of feeling so overwhelmed with insecurities that I thought I was really going to break! There are approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. (46.6 million) who experience mental illness in a given year, and 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) that experience a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children ages 8–15, the estimate is 13%. Not to mention that  1.1% of adults in the U.S. live with schizophrenia and 2.6% of adults in the U.S. live with bipolar disorder. I gave these statist to let you know that you are not alone. Even if you have being diagnosed with a mental illness or you feel like you are not yourself, it’s okay! Augmentation is still on your side and you are the greatness that this universe needs. So many times people are sensitive to other diseases such as cancer, lupus, and diabetes. When it comes to mental illness, everyone seems to want to run away, ignore symptoms, or simply try to isolate themselves. The diagnosis/symptoms bring shame and embarrassment.  I want you to know today not to walk in these shoes. Be a Bigger, Greater You and work through this condition with the right support. I have not personally dealt with mental illness from the stand point of hospitalization, however, I have supported this condition with someone who I love dearly and it caused me to become more aware of how I can help snd what I need to look for. People who deal with mental illness do not have to always “look” like something is wrong. I was with someone daily and did not see the signs. If you are connected with an introvert (someone who is always alone), be that person who understands how to meet the needs of a person who prefers calm/minimally stimulating environments. This will help that person not to feel overwhelmed and drained because they where in a social setting that was difficult for them. Be that person to help them regain their stability and energy by letting them know spending time alone is okay and when they need company you are there for them. Do not ever force a person to be someone or something they are not, because this is the first trigger for w possible mental episode.  The fact is, when you are an introvert, your brain responds to dopamine (neurotransmitters) differently than a person who is an extrovert. Once we educate ourselves about mental health, we will stop feeling pity for that person and learn how to support them. Really, all we need in life is to know we are loved and not a misfit.

                                                   Signs of Mental Illness

  1. Deep depression
  2. Chronic Medical Conditions
  3. Situational problems (which may lead to suicide)
Let’s keep educating ourselves so that we can make a difference for someone! Augmentation helps us to discover the Bigger, Greater You!

Yours,
Lisa
